Programs

Envision hosts a number of programs throughout the year to help educate and inform County residents about local issues, community efforts, local government, and to learn more about effective civic engagement and advocacy. All of our programs support our mission of advancing a sustainable, resilient community through civic engagement.

Green Drinks

This Frederick County institution, begun several years ago by local resident Rich Maranto of Going Green Maryland, and now hosted by Envision Frederick County, offers an opportunity to get together in an informal setting to learn about local issues and programs while enjoying happy hour. Green Drinks are hosted in different locations around the County and typically include a 15 to 20 minute discussion followed by time for drinks & meeting other members of the community. Recent topics have included: Land Preservation Programs in Frederick County; How to Increase Voter Turnout; Increasing Bike Paths in the County; and Home Energy Efficiency Programs & Opportunities among many others.

Envision Essentials

Envision Essentials programs offer opportunities to take a deep dive into various topics. Essentials programs are typically offered on Saturday mornings from 10 AM to noon or 1 PM. We typically invite 3 or 4 subject matter experts to discuss different aspects of each topic and provide plenty of time for questions and discussion. Presentations from recent Envision Essentials programs are available here.

Webinars

Envision also hosts webinars, which are typically scheduled on weekday evenings and provide a chance to hear from experts on specific topics of interest to County residents. Envision webinars have included presentations on Green Teams around the County and Sustainable landscaping practices to encourage biodiversity and attract pollinators. You can find recordings of past webinars here.

Upcoming events are posted here on our Events page but are also advertised in our newsletter and on our Facebook page. Subscribe to our website below, or follow us on Facebook so you don’t miss out!
